Wright’s Test (Hyperabduction Test)

Testing position: The patient is seated or standing. Patient’s arm is abducted 90 degrees and extended while the examiner palpates the strength of the radial pulse, can be also performed with a flexed elbow. An alternate position- patient’s arm is fully abducted, while the examiner palpates the strength of the radial pulse.
Expected Findings:
Compression of the brachial plexus as it passes through the coracopectoral tunnel. A positive test is a strength weakening of the radial pulse (not a change in the speed).
