Tornado Test (Choi's Test)
Testing position: The patient is seated, light vertical pressure is applied by one examiner's hand on the patient's vertex while the neck is relaxed. Rotation of the neck is initiated with the patient's neck flexed maximally. It is followed by rotation toward the direction of the pain site, progressing to full extension of 180 degrees.
Expected Findings: Compressive force at all angles by rotating the neck while pressure is applied exacerbates the exiting nerve roots irritation. Reproduced radicular pain or tingling in the ipsilateral upper extremity indicates a positive sign.
