Whitening toothpaste: which one is the most effective?

We all have expressed concerns regarding whitening toothpastes mainly due to a disappointment when the advertised cosmetic results were not achieved. Clinicians and researchers question the risk of wearing the dental structure with some of the technologies. This study from Brasil compared the whitening performance of various toothpastes after initial and continued use. Whitening technologies included: activated charcoal, hydrogen peroxide, optical dye or microbead abrasives. Interestingly, statistically significant differences were observed between toothpastes in both initial and continues use. Authors concluded that microbead abrasives (Oral B 3D White Perfection) and blue covarine (WAD) were the best tooth whitening technology tested. Details by the link.
