Skin, Hair and Nail Supplements: an evidence-based report

Both physicians and consumers may lack an evidence-based knowledge of dietary supplements and specifics of this industry. Manufacturers are not required to prove efficacy, safety, or quality prior to sale for these products. Therefore, each supplement ingredient and formulation should be analysed individually. In this article, authors review an evidence-based approach to the evaluation of dermatology supplements. They suggest a method named "PPIES": purity, potency, interactions, efficacy, and safety. The article describe each of these recommendations in detail. Nicotinamide, Biotin, Synbiotics (probiotics with prebiotics), Vitamin D and Melatonin are among those, for which further research may be indicated. Check the full article by the link.
