Regenerative Scar - Free Skin Wound Healing

Based on the recent research, the cost of anti-scar treatment may reach about $6000 per patient. A study from University of South Carolina looks into an update in strategies for scar-free wound healing and discusses the role of different factors in regenerative wound healing. The pathophysiology is described by excessive deposition of connective tissue (collagen) during wound healing that results in scar formation. It was proved that skin injuries in the human fetus can heal without scar formation. Thus, engineering approaches aimed to mimic such wound healing process may help to decrese scar formation after the injury. The use of pro-regenerative matrix with growth factors and cell types that induce regeneration rather than repair is the solution being recently researched. Details by the link!
