Promising Therapeutic Targets for Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Decades of research still does not have the exact answer for etiology of RA, but it is certain that genetic and environmental factors have the impact. The majority of clinical trials in the first place suggest nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (acetylsalicylate, naproxen, ibuprofen). However, the adverse effects can not be avoided with a long-term use. As such, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) are another option to prevent and relieve RA aggression. Some cutting-edge technologies like PROTACs (proteolysis-targeting chimeras), CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) and artificial intelligence (AI) drug design allow targeting almost any kind of molecules. This requires future studies to separate RA patients into subgroups and find precision medicine strategies for personalized therapy. More by the link!
