Patient education materials for non-specific low back pain

Low back pain (LBP) is a common global burden. It occurs in all age groups from children to the elderly population and has become the leading cause of years lived with disability worldwide (64.9 million). A study published this October (2022) looked into effectiveness of patient education materials on health outcomes for LBP. There were 27 studies included in this review from US, UK, Spain, Sweden and other countries. Patient education materials were similar across studies and included proper lifting techniques, exercises, flare-ups and pain management, importance of staying active, self-management strategies, and treatment options. Providing such education was found to have a favorable and positive patient impact for acute/subacute and chronic LBP. Check the details by the link!
