MSTS annual meeting, Banff, Canada

From October 4 to October 6, 2023, the annual congress of the North American Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) is being held in Banff, Canada. Until the mid-20th century, bone pathology remained one of the most challenging areas of surgery due to limitations in medical imaging, with poor treatment results. MSTS has been existing since 1977, when the need for orthopedic oncology as a separate specialty first became apparent. Today, MSTS is a multiprofessional, highly specialized community that unites more than 800 specialists from various fields involved in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of tumors of the musculoskeletal system: orthopedists, oncologists, pathophysiologists, histologists, radiologists, chemotherapists, plastic surgeons, psychotherapists, and rehabilitation specialists. The MSTS community unites specialists from the USA and Canada. The topics of the congress are presented in the following sessions:
• Postoperative reconstruction (Endoprosthetic reconstruction)
• Thrombosis and thromboprophylaxis
• Benign bone and soft tissue tumors
• Infection
• Study of long-term treatment results (Patient reported outcomes, surveillance and staging)
• Metastatic bone disease
• Types of bone sarcomas (Bone sarcoma)
• Latest technologies (Novel Techniques)
• Specific immunotherapy, targeted therapy (Immunotherapy and immunomodulation)
