Look-alike humans may show genetic similarities?

Would you be interested to find your look-a-like twin? Global digitalization has increased the chances of people to identify virtual doubles online that are not family related. A group of authors from Spain came to some intriguing conclusions. They studied thirty-two look-alike couples who completed a comprehensive biometric and lifestyle questionnaire. Participants geographic locations mostly included North and South America, and Europe. Shared facial traits were not the only parameters studies. The research included 68 biometric and lifestyle attributes, such as weight and height, smoking and education. Authors reported that these individuals share similar genotypes, but differ in their DNA methylation and microbiome landscape. These findings are helpful for various fields like biomedicine and forensics and deserve further investigation.
